Savannah, Girl, My Bestie Is Flying First Class Too!
Savannah James has the internet debating friendship, money, and airplane seating after revealing that she and her longtime friend and business partner, April McDaniel, do not always travel in the same cabin.
During a recent conversation about their different lifestyles, April explained that first class is not always in her budget. So on one trip, Savannah sat in first class while April flew business class. April eventually went upstairs, climbed into Savannah’s seat, and watched a movie with her.
Now let me start by saying this: Business class is not suffering. April was not squeezed into a middle seat near the bathroom with one bag of pretzels and a crying baby kicking her chair. She was still traveling comfortably.
April also does not seem bothered by the arrangement. She understands that Savannah has a different financial situation, and she does not expect her friend to pay for everything.
But listen, if I am married to a billionaire, my best friend is riding in first class with me.
Period.
My bestie is not downstairs in business class while I am upstairs eating caviar, wrapped in a blanket, and selecting a movie from my private suite. Absolutely not. She is sitting right beside me asking the flight attendant for another glass of champagne.
If I have billionaire money in my household, we are not separating at the boarding gate like we booked two different vacations. I am not saying I need to pay everybody’s way. Cousins, acquaintances, old coworkers, and that girl I met twice can stay within their budgets.
But my longtime best friend and business partner?
Girl, upgrade that ticket.
I absolutely love Savannah and LeBron. They are my Ohio people, and I am from Cincinnati. I have always respected their relationship, their family, and the way they represent Ohio. Savannah is classy, beautiful, private, and seems like a genuinely good person.
But this one? I cannot get with it.
Maybe I am too generous. Maybe I would be the broke billionaire because all my friends would be in first class ordering caviar on my tab. But if we have been friends for 15 years, built businesses together, and traveled the world together, I want us enjoying the experience together.
To be fair, April is not complaining. The internet is more offended for her than she is for herself. Their friendship clearly works for them, and grown women are allowed to have boundaries around money.
Still, in my imaginary billionaire life, my bestie is getting the upgrade.
What do you think? Should a wealthy friend pay for the first class upgrade, or should everyone purchase the seat that fits their own budget? 💋
